The Other Moving Company Partners with Wreaths Across America

Helping Veterans

This past December, The Other Moving Company was proud to serve as a transportation partner for the 2025 Wreaths Across America initiative. As part of the Honor Fleet, our team had the privilege of helping deliver veterans’ wreaths to communities across the country, ensuring that on National Wreaths Across America Day – December 13, 2025 – families and volunteers could gather to honor America’s fallen heroes.

A Mission Born from Gratitude

The story of Wreaths Across America reminds us how a single act can spark a nationwide movement. It began in 1992 when Maine businessman Morrill Worcester found himself with surplus holiday wreaths. Remembering a boyhood trip to Arlington National Cemetery, Worcester saw an opportunity to give back. With help from Senator Olympia Snowe and a local trucking company, those wreaths were transported to Arlington to honor veterans in older cemetery sections.

What started as a quiet tribute remained largely unknown for over a decade. Then in 2005, a photograph of snow-covered gravestones adorned with wreaths circulated online, and everything changed. Requests flooded in from communities nationwide, all wanting to honor their local veterans in the same way.

By 2007, Wreaths Across America was formed as a nonprofit organization with a simple yet profound mission: Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom.

The Backbone of the Mission: Transportation Partners

While volunteers and sponsorships make Wreaths Across America possible, the transportation industry serves as the driving force behind the mission. In 2024, 739 loads of veterans’ wreaths were hauled by 397 trucking companies to over 4,900 participating locations. This year, more than 700 truckloads reached over 5,500 locations across all 50 states and overseas.

The logistics challenge is substantial. Each November and December, during one of the busiest periods for transportation, carriers coordinate to ensure millions of live balsam wreaths reach their destinations in time. It requires precision, dedication, and a willingness to prioritize service during the holiday rush.

Transportation partners don’t just move cargo – they move a message of remembrance and gratitude. Many drivers are veterans themselves, making these deliveries particularly meaningful. As Courtney George, Director of Transportation and Industry Relations for Wreaths Across America, noted, professional drivers who join the Honor Fleet have a deep desire to honor veterans in a tangible way.

Why We Said Yes

At The Other Moving Company, we’ve built our business on the principle that moving isn’t just about transporting belongings – it’s about helping people through important life transitions. Many of our clients are military families who understand sacrifice firsthand. When the opportunity arose to support Wreaths Across America, we knew it aligned perfectly with our values.

Being a transportation partner offered more than just the chance to give back. It provided an opportunity to demonstrate our company’s commitment to service and patriotism – despite the different seasons and moving challenges – to engage our employees in meaningful work, and to connect with the broader transportation community in support of a shared mission.

For our drivers who participated, delivering these wreaths was more than just another load – it was an honor. The dedicated volunteers at Wreaths Across America ensured that every arrival was met with gratitude and respect, making clear the significance of what we were transporting: not just wreaths, but symbols of remembrance for those who gave everything for our freedom.

More Than a December Ceremony

While National Wreaths Across America Day captures attention each December, the organization’s mission operates year-round. The annual “Escort to Arlington” – known as the country’s longest veterans’ parade—travels down the East Coast, stopping at schools, memorials, and communities to spread awareness and educate the next generation.

In 2024, more than three million sponsored veterans’ wreaths were placed at participating locations, with over four million volunteers – a third of whom were children – helping place wreaths. This coordinated effort represents one of the largest displays of unity and patriotism in America today.

Looking Forward

Our experience as a 2025 Wreaths Across America transportation partner has been deeply meaningful for everyone at The Other Moving Company. It reminded our team why we’re in this business – not just to move things, but to serve our communities and support those who make our freedoms possible.

As we look ahead, we’re committed to continuing this partnership and encouraging others in the transportation industry to get involved. Whether through donating services, sponsoring wreaths, or volunteering, there are many ways to support this important mission.

To every veteran and active service member: thank you for your service and sacrifice. To our fellow transportation partners who helped move the mission in 2025: it was an honor to serve alongside you.
